Expert economist Mr Siddharth Shankar on the latest Inflation numbers Nov 17th 2011

“As I had expected the inflation numbers have come down. Going forward, the inflation numbers will tend to move downward. This decline is good but over long run we still need to set right the fundamentals of fiscal deficit agriculture production if we wish to see the numbers on the lower side of the target range.”

Expert economist Mr Siddharth Shankar on the latest Inflation numbers 3rd Nov 2011

“The inflation numbers point towards the fact that the monetary policy has had its effect. Going forward I feel we will see a decline in over index too. I do not see any more hikes coming this fiscal. What is required is fiscal discipline, focused government expenditure and more focus on agriculture sector.”
